Well… it is for me? But I’ve had people say it’s weird in the past so I guess it depends on the person? Unless you mean the cutting part, then yeah, that’s normal. It’s the easiest way to extract sea jelly venom, ‘cause it just grows back in a week or so.
[ He is casually putting it on a skillet to cook as he “talks”. ]
[He's watching Mizuki work as he explains this. So... it's normal to him, and it grows back. So that part's fine. He's remembering now that Mizuki also doesn't have bones, either. There is an urge to put this sea jelly under a microscope.]
... but you don't cook the venom with it, right? [he would hope that if "people say it’s weird" that one of those people would tell him not to poison the food]
Mizuki gives another soundless laugh, but shakes his head. ]
Not usually!! But even the few times I had accidentally, it wasn’t a big deal. Cooking it in oils hot enough will break the proteins down and effectively make it harmless. And even then, if you ate it raw, it’s venom, not poison. It would have to get into your bloodstream to cause problems. So, like if you had a stomach ulcer or lost a tooth or something, maybe then, but…
Ahh, I just mean to say overall, it’s really safe. My venom isn’t lethal, anyway, and I have antidotes with me. Doctor Add made them for me, actually.
[Well, the science checks out. If Mizuki says it's normal, and it doesn't hurt him, and the venom is broken down in the cooking process anyway... he's just going to nod in agreement like there's nothing weird about this at all. Yeah.
...
Okay, no, it's definitely still the weirdest thing he's ever eaten. The eyeball lemons aren't real eyeballs, and demons eat some pretty weird stuff for human standards, but he hasn't met any that eat parts of their own bodies... maybe it's like how crabs will eat their own shells after molting? Or lizards that drop their tails to escape predators, they can also eat their own tails sometimes.]
[ Mizuki looks down at the noodle, then slices a piece off to casually shove in his own mouth, as if somehow that’ll have the answers. He chews thoughtfully and even though he doesn’t need his mouth to eat, he doesn’t reply until he’s done, anyway. ]
Probably?
[ Insightful, Mizuki. ]
It’s more that it helps to preserve the vitality of the rest of the food. Like even though this world doesn’t have fresh plants or stuff, it helps the lemongrass and lime juice taste as if your holding their very essence of life in your mouth.
[I mean according to the crab and lizard theory Mizuki eating his own tentacles is the most normal thing here, so he doesn't bat an eye at that. Continuing to analyze this in a scientific manner...]
I guess, if you want something fresh... it doesn't get much fresher than that?
[ Mizuki grabs a couple of skewers to start putting together the meal for him and putting it in a convenient little to-go box that he slides across the counter. ]
I've been told my methods makes the presentation a little weird, but unfortunately that is the price to pay to preserve the vitality of the meal.
[His expression softens a little, staring off at nothing as he considers the question seriously. Is he going to be alright?
The situation is still unchanged, but... it's not as insurmountable as it seemed before. There's a method to approaching this, and perhaps even repairing it in full. He just has to... communicate, and show some honesty. And he already did some of that tonight, didn't he?]
... Yeah. I'll be fine. [For tonight, he'll just try to relax. He'll even set up Dynamo to screen his calls, so he won't have to worry about being bothered...]
[Wolfwood feels weird and sad and he doesn't like it.
He's due for his weekly therapy session and he's come to the realization he's probably going to have to talk about this weird, sad feeling, and he likes that even LESS. Part of him kindof wants to maybe just skip it, but he hasn't skipped a week since Neo Eden (and that wasn't exactly their fault they kindof got sucked away from the Grove and also he was in prison for a bit), so he knows Mizuki would probably come looking for him. Squirt has a knack for Finding You whether you want to be found or not.
Also, he's like. A werewolf now? Haha funny he gets it, but he figures that will ALSO make him easier to find, so like.
[It's his first time in the therapy building, so Add wanders around a bit while he looks for Mizuki's office. Not that he's here for therapy, since he's fine and extremely normal, but Mizuki gave him a lot of good advice last time. He should at least give him an update on how everything turned out.
... even if it's kind of obvious, since Add and Ain are now living together. But still!
The snake body makes it a little difficult to maneuver, but he manages not to slam too many doors on himself. Peeking into the rock climbing room, sensory deprivation tanks, the paint room... the rage room is intriguing. Might have to come back to that one. But for now he finds himself in the library, his tail curled up around him in a big messy heap as he frowns at the selection of books. None of these are about robots...]
[ Mizuki isn't going to question everyone who wants to use his building. It's here for everyone, after all. But, y'know, he also isn't going to ignore snake Add (Snadd) coming in either. He knows very vaguely about things that have been happening. Ain is also his client, after all.
So, of course, he will eventually wiggle his way into the library with his usual smile. ]
Hello, Mister Add. It's good to see you again~. Is there something specific you're looking for? Maybe I can help.
[In the time Add has been left to his own devices he's gotten over the lack of scientific texts and entertained the possibility that maybe a self-help book might contain useful knowledge. He's hunched over one such book when Mizuki walks in, while his dynamos are busy arranging a small stack of a fewotheroptions...
... which means none of them are checking for intruders, so Add jolts with an audible snap when Mizuki's voice starts ringing in his head. He fumbles the book in his hands, nearly dropping it.]
Ghck, don't sneak up on me like that! [a couple dynamos aggressively bobbing behind him like they're nodding in agreement, this is totally not his/their own fault] I was just skimming a few, it's not important.
[tucking his research topic under an arm for now...]
Things worked out with Ain... and Wolfwood, I guess. Your advice turned out to be useful, so I owe you one. [maybe he should read up on saying "thank you" to people next goddamn]
Hm? Did I not tell you that I also lived here? [ So does Elsword, though he's pretty sure Add might've figured that much out already. When he isn't camping out by the river, anyway. ] Sorry I startled you, though. It's hard not to, when I can't speak and all~.
[ He might be a little nosy and try to glance at the books he's reading, but that curiosity is quickly pushed away by what Add says. ]
Oh, that's wonderful!!! I'm really glad - I hope you all are happier now? And, my sessions are completely free, you know. There's no reason for you to "owe me". Charging anyone for my services here seems miserable, given our situations.
[He's still a little self-conscious about it, so Dynamo conspicuously floats in the way when Mizuki tries to read the spines... not that he didn't see them earlier, probably. Add shifts around in his "seat" (huge snake ass), trying not to look anxious.]
Tch, I said I owe you so I owe you, alright? [please... he doesn't know how else to convey gratitude, this is hard] I do charge for my services, so enjoy the freebie while it lasts. Machines are my specialty, but I have a lot of useful skills besides that. Just tell me if you need something and I'll do it.
[ Hm. Mizuki should get more monster-friendly furniture and such in here. Maybe also make the doorways bigger...? Something to think about later. ]
Oh, that's very good to know. How are you with game consoles? I can usually troubleshoot if the problems are minor, but the major ones stump me. I'm not really an engineer or nothin', and it isn't like we have an internet search engine conveniently on hand or anything...
[ The therapy building is always open, of course. Mizuki had intended it to be used by everyone and considered basically a public space. Still, he finds it funny when people knock all the same. It is still his "house" he supposes?
He's not... really all that surprised to see Wolfwood as a creature. He'd seen several others walking around. And at least Wolfwood is still pretty identifiable. He gives a soft little smile, as well as a wave. ]
[Wolfwood kindof shrugs his shoulders at that, hands in his pockets as he makes his way in.]
I dunno if you have other people talkin' to you on the same day as me, and I know I would be pissed if somebody randomly walked in on me pourin' my heart out.
[Implying he ever does that, but don't worry we'll get to that.
He slumps into the available chair, exhaling on a world-weary sigh.]
You been doin' okay?
[Is how he chooses to start, mainly to avoid talking about himself for as long as he can get away with.]
