[ Unfortunately for Jinx, Mizuki is just constantly this touchy. Which is why he squeezes her hands in some strange form of comfort. ]

(jinx isn't going to address the first statement he says but she will move on to acknowledge the other half. she really should pry her hands away from his grip but even if she tried, he is squeezing them so tugging away will make this whole ordeal a little more awkward than it is.)

... Well since I'm ending things with him, I just... figured the first step was to talk to you about it.

(she wonders if any the pilties would snicker at her if they ever saw "the loose cannon" standing here and making p r o g r e s s. ha. ha.)

[ "Ending things," huh? Mizuki doesn't have any room to try and defend Venti here, unfortunately. Maybe partially because of his own bitter feelings for him right now? Or maybe because he doesn't really know what went on between Jinx and him? After all, he didn't find out that Jinx was the other person until much later than Jinx did. ]

I... I don't know if it is. I mean, I was just sort of... an unfortunate obstacle, is all.

Don't beat yourself up over it. What's done is done. Can't reaaaally go back and fix all this gunk up.

[ No, but he wishes he could. He lets go of Jinx here to give her a hug, though. ]

... If it makes you feel better, I haven't been having an easy time with him, either.

(o-oh. hugging, alright. not at all getting a hug from a person she hated for several weeks is super awkward??? jinx stands there frozen before awkwardly raising up an arm to pat his back.)

Y-Yeah, I can imagine. If he's been givin' me hell, he's probably been doin' the same to you. It's just... who he is, y'know? A guy that lures you in with sweet cutesy words and once ya get your guard down, he does somethin' stupid and you're falling face first in the dirt. — And then on top of it, not even offerin' a hand to help you get up.

[ Well, Mizuki's harbored no ill-will for her, and still considers her a friend, acutally! So hugs are just inevitable, really. He holds it for just a moment before finally pulling away with his hands still on her shoulders. ]

He... he's trying to get better about it.

I'm sorry that... he's made you feel like that. May I ask a favor, though? He's kind of going through something right now... I know that's not your problem or anything, and you can still go talk to him if you need to do this now, but... if not... could you maybe give it a day or two before you tell him?

Spare me. I don't wanna hear about him tryin' to do anything or what he's going through. I don't care and I know he's not gonna change. I've came to terms with that.

(but for the favor though, jinx averts her eyes away from him with her lips thinning for a moment.)

I...I dunno. I was thinkin' just dip and he'll eventually get the message. He gets to run away whenever shit gets hard so... give a taste of his own medicine on how that feels to get ditched by people.

[ A hesitant nod. Once again, Venti has gotten a lot better about running away from his problems. He’s even talked to Mizuki about a lot of them and made so, so much progress. But there’s still a lot more to make and he is hurting. He doesn’t need to imagine how Jinx feels. ]

I… I understand if you don’t want to see me anymore, either, ‘cause of him, but if it’s all the same to you… can we still be friends?

I...dunno about that either, yet. I tried to take a friend's advice to work it out with Venti and keep being his friend but...

(a pause before sighing.)

It's just too damn hard. I've been tryin' to rush all of this 'cuz I want it all to be over with. But... guess this is somethin' you can't go fast with? Which sucks 'cuz I'm use to the fast and crazy stuff.

Guess what I'm sayin' is I need time.

[ There's a tiny, guilty look at the ground as he pulls his hands away from her. ]

That's alright. And if the answer ends up being no, that's okay, too. But, um... whatever the case is... I know you'll find that happiness again soon enough.

(a brief pause -- thinking she should just nothing else but decides to add:)

[ Had Jinx come at some point before finding out what Venti did, he may very well have happily said he didn't need it. Maybe even fought to say that all he really cares about is that Venti is happy. And for a while, this was true. Mizuki's own happiness didn't really matter to him, because he always equated it to other people's happiness. But that broken trust like that? Hm…

He nods. ]

(she flashes him a small smile before turning on her kneel. and as she walks off, she hopes up a peace sign as her way of saying, "see ya" back. thus the two of them are now on their separate ways but surely, they will meet up again. who knows? maybe the bard will do yet another dumbass thing that will bring them together again for another chat.)
